First: Don't get me wrong. This is not a gripe or even a criticism; it's just a fact, Jack. Dime and Shnflac and etree--all great services, and I give them three thumbs up.
Another three for those who serve.

An interesting aside on the seeder/leecher thing. If you leech early, you will likely get your seed time in. That is, the torrent will still be desired by would be leechers. However, if you come in late, you may get the download with no subsequent upload credit even though you leave the torrent active on your computer for weeks. Then your ratio sucks, even though you may have a heart of gold.
I'm at 47% on dime despite having ten or more shows available. A few are active, but most have played out.

The other problem for some downloaders is space. They have to burn and remove downloads to keep their computer space free for silly things like work related projects. Then there are those (like me) who are not computer literate enough to get the mother rolling at top speed. Things like firewalls and so on.

I've had downloads with 3-400% upload ratios and some with 0%. I guess that what I'm trying to say is that there are many out there who leech and don't reseed or who keep their minimum ratio up(true leeches), but there are also many who would love to seed for eternity but have no takers.

Moral of the story: monitor the sites daily and download fast!

I donated anyway, even at .48 ratio--it does cost these folks good money to do this. But--does a donation make up for low ratios?

Still, a mighty fine group of services. At some point, I'm going to have to learn how to upload and reseed some stuff.

Oh hey orchiddr., completely agree with your sentiment. I might make a statement about folks who "leech & run" but i am aware enough that there are individuals who, for whatever reason: low up speeds, smallish disk space, poor connection, lack of computer time, etc, etc., and who just cannot get their ratios at a point satisfactory to themselves or even the bit torrent site they are members of. And so true as well that hopping on early, particularly a popular seed, will help your ratio grow. And there are other ways to contribute as well if one happens to have a difficult time building up one's ratio. It's all about the final tally anyway, not what passes within the moment.

One good thing that you guys sometimes do: Shout it out when something new and worthy is posted on etree or dime or . . . . Then there will be more swarmers, faster download times, and better ratios for all. Maybe!
